New York Times best-selling author Jeff Pearlman joins this episode to talk sportswriting.
A former Sports Illustrated senior writer (as well as a former ESPN.com columnist and staff writer for Newsday and the [Nashville] Tennessean), Jeff is the New York Times best-selling author of 10 books, including his newest one about Bo Jackson, titled The Last Folk Hero: The Life and Myth of Bo Jackson, which comes out in October 2022.
In this conversation, Jeff discusses why his favorite word is “serendipity,” his dream of becoming a sportswriter growing up, his book writing process, what he worries about when he’s writing books, and how he believes members of the sports media shouldn’t be rooting for teams, among other topics. Jeff also reminisces about his first story with Sports Illustrated—and the time when he grew tired of sports and left SI.
